The Truth About Hypnosis and Weight Loss
THE TRUTH ABOUT HYPNOSIS AND WEIGHT LOSS

What Does Research Tell Us about Weight loss and Hypnosis?

Some of the research results are not reliable, because the studies were not matched well for age and other individual characteristics.
These studies are aimed at determining the success of hypnosis as reinforcement for a behavioral problem.

However, this research does address the underlying psychological reasons that people eat too much and gain weight.  In my opinion, it's the second area of psychological drivers where hypnosis can have the greatest benefit.

We do know that success with hypnosis was greater for participants who had better self-control, who weighed less at the start of the studies and who were more expressive.

For example, research has shown also shown that success with hypnosis was greater for participants who had better self-control, who weighed less at the start of the studies and who were more expressive.

Hypnosis can go beyond the positive reinforcement of good eating behaviors.  By reaching your unconscious mind and addressing the reasons you eat too mujch or regain the weight you've lost, Hypnosis is more likely to be successful over the long term.

Beware of the Frauds.

There are many sites that promise weight loss will occur after only one session, are dishonest.

It takes Time.

For weight loss with hypnosis (in-person or via audio recordings) to be successful, it has to be used on a regular basis for a substantial period of time.
Althought Hypnosis can be a very powerful tool, providers who promise that hypnosis is quick, easy and simple are just trying to sell you their products with the promise of a magincal cure.

F
rom My Experience, it seems that hypnosis for weight loss is most effective when:

  • It is used in addition to a specific weight loss eating plan;
  • It targets the individual's underlying reasons for eating too much and/or sabotaging their wieight loss; and
  • It is practiced consistently for an extended period of time.

Hypnosis gives you access to levels of awareness that can help to address the underlying, psychological reasons you eat too much or sabotage your success.

STRESS CAN ADD FAT TO YOUR BELLY
In a new study, scientists at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington have shown in mice that stress activates the hormone neuropeptide Y (NPY), which leads to fat accumulation. The study is “groundbreaking in our understanding of why we gain weight when we’re under stress,” says Elissa Epel, who studies physiologic effects of stress at the University of California….but she says, “people get fat for many reasons, so this is not the only solution to the obesity epidemic.”
