Lose Weight & Keep It Off

IT'S NOT ABOUT THE FOOD
It's never about the food.

Diets don't work and if you're reading this, you probably already know that.

They don't work because...we can lose the weight for the short term, but 98% of the time, we re-gain the weight we've lost....and sometimes more weight.  It may take a couple of years to come back, but it comes back....

How does that happen?   It's because we haven't addressed the underlying problem -- the non-food reason we eat.

And--as if gaining the weight back or not being able to lose it wasn't bad enough, we end up frustrated and angry at ourselves.  Have you heard Oprah talk about how angry she was at herself that she gained all of her weight back?  So you know what that means, right?

We can't blame it on lack of money -- or not having a personal trainer--or our own chefs.

So.... now....let's say you agree with me..that it's not about the food... the next question is:

So what can you do about it?

You research the underlying cause of your weight gain and your eating habits.  Sometimes it's low self-esteem; sometimes it's not feeling lovable; sometimes it's a protective armor that we wear to help avoid intimacy and possible hurt. Those are just a few of the most common reasons.

FEELING POWERLESS OVER FOOD

Do you feel like food has 'gotten the best of you?'  Do you feel hopeless about every losing the weight and keeping it off?

Do you recognize any of the following?

  • I am sooo tired of being on a diet.

  • If I'm not dieting, I am gaining weight.

  • Eating fills void for me.

  • As soon as I have nothing to do, I want to eat.

  • I often feel like it's not safe to say ow I really feel.

  • I don't often admit it, but I really miss having a lover in my life.

  • My weight has become a serious obsession in my life

  • I have always felt like I don't "fit in."
  • I don't have much else in my life and I don't want to deprive myself.
  • When I'm genuinely hungry, I criticize myself for eating too much.
  • I keep myself busy 'doing' and don't acknowledge feelings that come up.
  • I criticize myself for being too sensitive.
  • I eat because:
            I'm ravenously hungry
            I'm bored
            I'm lonely
            I'm married
            I'm single
            I passed a donut shop
I had too much to drink
My daughter cooked it for me.
            I'm tired of starving myself.

TAKE BACK YOUR POWER OVER FOOD

The Power of Accepting What Is

You know.....if you can't accept what is, you will self-medicate to keep your feelings at a distance.  You may have a fear of feeling too much.  And food is often associated with comfort and love.  When you eat to self-medicate, you remain a powerless child.

You need to accept who you are now...to love your body now.

Did you know that women are already dissatisfied with their bodies as early as 13 years of age....and it may even be younger now.

In her enlightening book: Eating in the light of the Moon,  Anita Johnston, Ph.D. describes how women went from being respected for their female qualities--their curvier figures were admired--to hating their bodies if they are any less than perfect.

The Power of Facing Your Feelings

When you face your feelings, you become a competent, responsible adult who has the power to make her/his own decisions and no longer be subject to what others want for you.

It is sometimes easier to be fat and have an 'easy' explanation of why we;re not happy or we're unloved...than to look at the underlying causes.  Afterall, everyone understands that fat people are not desirable in our society, right? They aren't treated equally to those who are thinner.

The Power and the Excitement of Real Change

Although most of this isn't new, the question keeps coming back....ok....How do I make this change?  I've tried!  It hasn't worked for me.

The underlying causes of a struggle with weight are most often unconscious.  That's why addressing them on the conscious level does not work.  That's why Diets Don't work.

I believe you do need an eating plan in order to lose weight and maintain your loss.  And exercise is extremely important.  Weight Watchers seems to be the best plan for flexibility and long-term maintenance.   You can now join Weight Watchers on line.

But a diet plan and exercise are not enough for many people.

However, if you do not address the underlying causes of your weight gain, you are unlikely to keep it off.  It's more likely that you will be part of the 98% who gain all of their weight back in a couple of years.

I use Hypnosis to reach the unconscious, with the aim of addressing the underlying causes of your weight problem .

CAN HYNOSIS HELP ME LOSE WEIGHT AND KEEP IT OFF?

HYPNOSIS can most certainly help you lose weight. You probably know that most diets don’t work by now.  Simply following a diet does not address the underlying reasons that you eat.  So, after you reach your goal, your underlying motivations for eating are still there and you often return to the original weight plus a few pounds.

Hypnosis helps you to access your powerful unconscious mind to help you change your ideas about eating, your reasons for eating and/or your own self-image that may be keeping you ‘stuck.’

The conscious mind makes up only 12% of our mind: the remaining 88%—the subconscious or unconscious mind—is not normally accessible during the wakened state.  In Hypnosis, we are able to push the critical conscious mind aside in order to communicate to the unconscious mind  through relaxation techniques.

My basic program for weight loss usually includes 8 sessions. The first 4 sessions are a week apart and then the 4 follow ups are spaced further apart as needed. I create customized hypnosis sessions for you and your unique eating   issues. After the first 4 sessions, I will give you a recording of your individualized, customized hypnosis sessions to use at home. The more you listen to the tape, the more reinforcement you give your unconscious to believe and stick to the new you!

The most compelling reason to use hypnosis is to empower you to step outside of your often limited conscious mind and discover more of your own personal resources.
My goal is always to give you the tools and training that can stay with you for the rest of your life. I want people to be able to use my help when they need it and to feel free to stop treatment when they don’t need it.
